(KLZA) -- Tuesday is primary election day in Nebraska. There are a few contested races in Southeast Nebraska counties.
Richardson County has just one contested race Tuesday. On the Republican ticket for Richardson County Sheriff incumbent Randy Houser is challenged by Tim Hersh and Don Pounds.
Since no one filed on the Democratic ticket Tuesday’s winner will be the Richardson County Sheriff for the 4-year term that begins in January, 2015.
Nemaha County Nebraska has two contested races. Eight candidates have filed for three Auburn School Board seats that will be open. The top six in Tuesday’s primary election will advance to the November General election.
Those filing are incumbent – Beth Kernes-Krause; Shawn Phillips; Greg Cook; Ryan Jones; Laura Osborne; Lynsey Schmidt; Denise Lickteig and Billy Chapin;
In County Commission District One, incumbent Bob Hutton is challenged by Jim Winkelman.
In Pawnee County there are several contested races. At the County level Candi Tuxhorn and Marry Sporhase are running for County Clerk on the Republican ticket to replace Carol Young who is retiring.
Current County Treasurer Cheryl Dahlgren is challenged on the Republican ticket by Stefanie Rauner. For Second District County Commissioner Brad Stake the incumbent is challenged on the Republican ticket by former Commissioners Kay Laun.
Five people are seeking two open seats on the City Council in Pawnee City. R.J. Hickey, Gale Nutter, Charlie Hatfield, John Wissler and Mark Sunneberg Jr. have all filed. The top four will advance to the November General election.
There are a pair of contested races in Johnson County Tuesday. In Commission District 1, Incumbent Scotty Gottula is challenged on the Republican ticket by Mike McPherrin and Elijah Lade.
Also on the Republican ticket Nadine Beethe and Lisa Schmidt will face off for the nomination to be Johnson County Treasurer.
