(KTNC) - Several Richardson County high school students were among those who participated in the Youth Election Service program. The program, sponsored by the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office and the Nebraska Banker’s Association, gives students the chance to participate in the electoral process, through tasks such as serving as clerks of local election boards and helping to set up polling places.
More than a dozen students from Falls City High School and HTRS High School participated in the program in the 2012 general election.
Students from Falls City High School to participate were: Baylee Vrtiska, Taylor O’Brien, Treyvin Bek, Jill Lunsford, Jennifer Wendtlandt, Kristen Kean, Maygan Ramsey, Marrissa Stark, and Kirstyn Buchholz.
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer students to participate were: Reba Burgett, Taylor Bredemeier, Nathan Stuckemeyer, Paige Gutzmer, Paige Watkins, and Destiny Worthey.
The students names will be entered into a drawing for one of 20 $50 savings bonds issued across Nebraska. Students will also receive a letter of “Commendation of Service” from Secretary of State John Gale.
