Atchison & Jefferson County Election Results & Comments

(KAIR) --  While official tallies won’t occur until Monday, several contested primaries showed definite unofficial winners in Atchison and Jefferson Counties.

In Atchison County, farmer Henry W. “Bill” Pohl became the Republican nominee for 3rd District County Commissioner.

Pohl garnered 217 votes compared to 140 for Mike Stec and 96 for John Buehler.

Moments after clinching his victory, Pohl talks about what he plans to do going forward.

He will go on to face Democrat Mary Perkins in the General Election.

She describes what issues she will seek if she attains office.

They will vie to replace outgoing Commissioner Tom Wagner, who is leaving after eight years in office.

In the race for the Republican nomination for Register of Deeds, Shelley Campbell defeated Tammy Weir 637 to 519.

Campbell will go on in November to face Democrat Katie Vollmer.

They will vie to replace retiring Register of Deeds, Marlene Wagner.

In the Lancaster Township race for Trustee, Matt Dorssom defeated Charles Vollmer 52 to 21 and for township Treasurer, Charles Schletzbaum defeated Chuck P Vollmer 57 to 17.

In Jefferson County, Incumbent Sheriff Jeff Herrig will serve four more years in the office, defeating former County Commissioner Jeff Christy 71 to 29 percent.

Herrig describes his thoughts after learning about his primary win.

In the race for 2nd District County Commissioner, Wayne Ledbetter defeated Kyle Brown 69 to 31 percent.
