Republicans Seek Atchison Co. Commissioner 3rd Dist. Nod

(KAIR) -- Three Republicans in Atchison County’s Third Commissioner District are winding down campaigning in an effort to move on to the November election.

The third district, which serves parts of Atchison and rural southern parts of Atchison County, is being vacated by Tom Wagner, who is not seeking re-election after serving eight years in office.

The first candidate to file on April 12th was Henry W. “Bill” Pohl.

The 59-year-old farmer from Walnut Township outlines the issues he wants to tackle, if nominated by voters in Tuesday’s primary.

Longtime rural Atchison private business owner and former Chairman of the Atchison Chamber of Commerce Committee and Atchison Planning Commission, Mike Stec, says his committee experience will help him tackle some of his issues.

The final candidate seeking the Republican nomination is customer service and account management businessman John Buehler.

The lifelong Atchison County resident describes what he would like to address, if elected, that he’s learned from campaigning over 600 miles around the county.

The winner of Tuesday’s primary will face Democrat Mary Perkins in November, who is running unopposed in the primaries.
