Atchison County’s third district County Commissioner will not be seeking re-election.
Tom Wagner made his announcement public Thursday morning.
Wagner was elected to office in 2004 and won re-election in 2008.
He’s a lifetime member of Atchison and served as an Army Reservist for 11 years and worked for Trans-World Airlines for 33 years.
Also, Thursday, Republican Henry W. Pohl filed for Wagner’s seat.
He is the first to file for any commissioner seat so far.
The 2nd district seat currently held by Mike Bodenhausen is also up for election this year.
Candidates have until June 1st to file.
