(KTNC) -- Municipal elections will be held across the state of Missouri Tuesday.
There are a few contested races and ballot measures of note in far northwest counties.
In Holt County, one measure would impose a half-cent sales tax over ten years to fund improvements to the county’s roads and bridges.
The Corning Special Road District is asking voters there to approve a 35-cent levy per $100 of assessed valuation for the next four years, and voters in Craig will vote on a 15-cent levy for street lighting.
In Atchison County, the Rock Port School District has two propositions on the ballot. One, if approved, would allow the school district to borrow $2.7 million to build and equip a new gymnasium. The Rock Port School District is also asking voters to approve a permanent 40-cent operating tax levy that would replace a temporary 50-cent levy that is due to sunset this year.
The proposal in Tarkio would allow the city to impose a local use tax at the same rate as the local sales tax, which is currently two-percent.
There are several crowded school board races in far northwest Missouri.
Eight people are running for three seats on the Fairfax R-3 School Board. Six people are running for three seats on the Nodaway-Holt School Board, and there are four candidates for three seats on both the Mound City R-2 and South Holt R-1 School Boards.
Other contested races have three candidates running for Mayor of Tarkio, two candidates for the East Ward position in Forest City, two candidates for a North Ward Alderman position in Maitland, and two candidates for an at-large council position in Craig.
