(KAIR) -- Hundreds attended and hundreds of dollars were raised for the Atchison Chamber of Commerce for the 37th annual Farm-City Banquet Tuesday evening.
One of the newer staples of the evening was the pie-baking contest.
Area community leaders judged the 14 pies entered between the fruit and cream pie categories.
The winner of the cream pie category was Kate Oswald with a coconut cream pie while Oswald’s grandson, Turner Reichardt, was one of two that took home first in the fruit pie category with a blueberry pie.
The other first place finisher in the fruit pie category was Jennifer Bacherding, also baking a blueberry pie.
Then the pies were auctioned off, with most of them going for over 50 dollars.
In total, 760 dollars were raised from the pies for the Chamber.
The Chamber will use proceeds from the auction to fund entertainment for future Chamber events.
One of this year’s entertainment acts included Soundmasters from ACCHS in Effingham.
Several door prizes were given away, including a lawn and garden assortment by KAIR Radio, won by Martha Cummings.
