New Pawnee City Sewer Plant Complete
08/30/2012

(Pawnee City) - Pawnee City’s new sewer plant is now in operation.  The City Council approved a motion Monday night stating that the sewer plant is substantially complete.
Zoning Administrator Clint Johnson explained what that means.  (play audio  :17)
Johnson says they are addressing small issues on a punch list.  (play audio  :36)
Johnson said three inspections of the sewer plant would be done – one by U.S.D.A., one by the project engineer and the city, and one by the contractor.
In other business this week, the Pawnee City Council approved a payment of $49,718 to Mid-America Road Builders for this summer’s chip-seal project.  That amount is the original price agreed to by the city.  Mid-America had submitted a bill for nearly $51,000, but resubmitted a bill for the original cost.
Some people were not happy with the quality of the work on the streets around the square.  Councilman John DeFreece spoke to the concerns.  (play audio  :44)
Councilman Charlie Hatfield explained why the swimming pool was closed early this summer.  (play audio  :37)
Another reason the pool closed early – the water temperature dropped when the weather cooled in early August.  Hatfield said the chair lift was installed in the pool at the tail end of the swimming season.  He said the lift worked well and will be reinstalled next summer to aid those who need help getting into and out of the pool.
