Discussions on facility improvements in the Pawnee City School District are on hold, following discussion at this past week’s School Board meeting.
Superintendent Stephen Grizzle says the board discussed a recommendation to build a new elementary building with more instructional space and connections between all buildings, at a cost of five million dollars. (play audio :30)
Grizzle says they have plans in place, but they want to get the best bang for their buck to deal with the many facility issues that need to be addressed. (play audio :50)
In other business this month, the Pawnee City School Board approved the hiring of two new elementary teachers for the next school year – Eric Uher and Kelly Neels. They will be replacing two teachers who are leaving the district. (play audio :14)
The board also appointed Jerry Meyer to fill a vacancy on the Pawnee City Public Schools Foundation that was created by the death of Duane Bowman.
And, the cost to attend activities at Pawnee City will remain the same next year after the board set admission prices at four dollars for adults and three dollars for students.
