Falls City Council OKs Request to Pave Alley
03/05/2014

(KTNC) -- The Falls City Council on Monday approved a request to pave a portion of the alley between McLean and Morton Streets.
The alley is adjacent to the building that was the former Kingdom Hall, on the north side of 14th Street. Mark Meisinger (my-singer), with North Winds Development of Norfolk told the council they have purchased the building and will be leasing it to the USDA.
Meisinger said they plan to re-grade the driveway on the east side of the building and move the front entrance to the west side. As part of the lease, he said the USDA has requested they pave the alleyway from 14th Street north to the property line, a distance of about 200-feet.
The council approved the request to pave the alley on a 7-0 vote.
In other business, the council approved a motion to purchase tablet or notebook computers for City Council and Board of Public Works members, as the city attempts to “go paperless.”
The council also approved three requests to rent Prichard Auditorium for wedding receptions and to allow alcohol to be served. All three receptions are for 2015.
The council also approved a request from the parents of the Falls City High School Class of 2017 for a Quarter Auction fundraiser on November 15, and to allow alcohol to be served at the event. The event would be for adults only. The request was approved on a 5-2 vote, with Council members Judy Murphy and Kirby Robidoux voting no.
The council approved a special designated liquor license for the event by the same 5-2 margin.
