(KAIR) -- A couple of area churches are planning to conduct their annual blessing of animals.
The first one will be Sunday evening at six in the west lawn of the Atchison United Methodist Church.

That’s their Pastor, Cindy Meyer.
She says the service follows longtime traditions and customs.

Citizens will also have another opportunity to have their animals blessed.
Saint Benedict’s Abbey Church will hold a blessing of the animals Sunday afternoon, October 7th at 2:30 in the church’s front lawn.
Treats for the animals and refreshments for their owners will be provided at both services.
