(KLZA) The Falls City, City Council Tuesday night voted to waive the second reading of an ordinance on the National Flood Insurance Program and unanimously approved it on final reading.
In a similar action the Council voted to suspend the first two readings of an ordinance concerning library boards. The ordinance was approved on final reading. The changes in the ordinance approved at the state level removes the provision allowing the library board the authority to appoint a Librarian and all other employees. The changes also remove the provision for the Library Board to have general charge of the Municipal Library and establish appropriate rules and regulations for the management, operation and use of the library.
Council members also voted to table discussion and action on a request to have the City Attorney create an ordinance allowing city residents to drive an all terrain vehicle from their house in the city limits to their farm owned by them.
An amendment to the ordinance that would allow the sale of alcoholic beverages in the city limits to begin at 9 a-m on Sunday instead of the current 12 p-m was approved on a 5-1 vote with Council member Judy Murphy casting the nay vote. Council members Kirby Roubidoux and Don Ferguson were absent from the meeting.
