Several citizens have brought high demand for a return of a taxi cab service in the city of Atchison.
City Manager Trey Cocking wanted to address some concerns and misconceptions around the community when it comes to the lack of a service in town.
He describes the history behind taxi cabs in Atchison.

Cocking says the ordinance is aimed to give citizens safety in the cab.

However, after the ordinance passed, the taxi cab company chose not to comply with the regulations and folded.
Since then, the city has been looking for that missing void and says they are fully on board in helping a business get started.

Cocking says they have heard feedback from several businesses in support of this service, including restaurants and nightclubs.
