The Pawnee City, City Council, received a positive audit report during its meeting Monday. The city’s auditor, Julie Bauman, gave the city the best opinion available, with a word of caution. City Clerk Tammy Stephens explains. (play audio :48)
Bauman told the council it was good the city implemented the sewer rate increase, as the city lost money in the sewer account last year. She said the water department is in good shape with its loans. Stephens says Bauman praised the city for the way it handled all the projects in the last year. (play audio :28)
Stephens says Bauman suggested the city set up a budget workshop later this spring or early this summer.
In other business Monday night, the Pawnee City Council approved the second reading of a Snow Emergency Route ordinance.
The council set a public hearing on the one and six year street plan for 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27th.
An application for a Class C liquor license for the W Tavern and Grill was approved.
The council approved a payment of $296,232 to Eriksen Construction for work on the new wastewater treatment facility.
And the council designated the space directly in front of the City Office as a handicap parking space.
