(KLZA)-- Two men suffered what were described as non-life threatening injuries in a car-horse drawn carriage collision in Pawnee County Wednesday morning.
The wreck was reported around 7:30 on Highway 8 about one mile east of Pawnee City. .
According to a report from Pawnee County Sheriff Jayme Reed, 25-year-old Kyle Clow of Pawnee City was eastbound and came up behind a horse-drawn cart driven by 23-year-old Kenneth Yoder, also of Pawnee City.
The Clow car hit the back of the buggy. Yoder was thrown from the carriage. It appears the horse may have gone over the top of the car and was killed instantly.
Both men were taken to Pawnee County Memorial Hospital for initial treatment and were later taken to a Lincoln hospital for treatment of their injuries. The cause of the wreck is under investigation but it is believed the early morning sun may have been a factor.
