(KLZA)-- Two public hearings and four affirmative votes to requests by the Falls City Council members during a 20 minute meeting Monday night.
Following nearly six months of research by the City, EDGE and the Falls City Chamber and Main Street group, the Council voted 8-0 to have Golden Shovel Agency re-design and manage the City website at a cost of $800 per month. The City is not required to sign and contract and if they are not satisfied with the service, they can stop at anytime.
EDGE has also approved going with Golden Shovel and sharing the costs with the City. The Chamber / Main Street organization is expected to make a decision soon. That agreement will cut the cost to $400 monthly for each group and if the Chamber / Main Street joins the cost per month will go down for each entity.
Following a public hearing drawing no public comment on Eric Froeschl’s request for a class C liquor license for the Would Eye Bar at 1821 Stone Street the Council voted 7-1 to give favorable comment to the request. Council member Judy Murphy cast the nay vote.
The Class C license is a catering license allowing the licensee to sell liquor at a location designated on a special designated licenses.
The second public hearing was on a request for Levi Jones to be allowed to have an animal permit for four Equines on a property at 1201 East 17th Street. In the past there have been horses at this location. No one spoke during the hearing. Council member Murphy cast the lone nay vote. Murphy said that when she went to look at the property the animals were already there. She said that it bothers her when people take action and then come to the Council for permission it bothers her. She said she just wanted to make a point, but was glad the request passed.
Tom Jones called it an oversight and noted that Levi Jones had already been notified by the Falls City Police Department about putting the animals on the property without a permit.
