(KLZA)-- In return for an opportunity to use the sand volleyball court at Stanton Lake Park in Falls City on Monday nights, the Falls City Area Jaycees have proposed they be allowed to refurbish the volleyball court with some help from the City.
Jonah Santo brought the proposal to the City Council.
The Jaycees would remove the sand currently in place, haul in gravel and new sand, purchase new boundaries and nets, purchase volleyballs and score flippers. In addition the Jaycees would clean the area annually. They asked the City to re-set the posts for the nets and do any repairs to the lights. Santo estimated the costs to the Jaycees at more than $7,000. Those figures did not include donated labor and hauling in the sand.
Santo said the Jaycees feel the sand volleyball court is an asset to the City that needs some upkeep.
The Council voted unanimously to allow the Jaycees to take on the project and be able to use the court on Monday nights and store the equipment in a city shed during the winter.
