(KLZA)-- The Falls City Council members voted unanimously Monday evening to table action on a Tort Claim filed by Dr. David Doerr, DVM, by the law firm of Carlson, Schafer and Davis in Beatrice.
The claim is in regards to the theft or loss of flight / maintenance logs for his airplane at Brenner Field in Falls City in July of 2014. The claim alleges the log books were housed and in the custody of the City at the Airport and went missing and have not been located. It alleges that an employee, representative or agent of the City entrusted with Dr. Doerr’s log books either intentionally stole the log books or negligently misplaced or lost them.
The claim seeks at least $55,000, if not more for the loss.
A majority of the meeting time was spent on a conference call with a representative of Golden Shovel Website Designs concerning the City website. The City, the Falls City Chamber / Main Street and EDGE are looking at possibly working together to have one website to serve all the entities and sharing the cost.
Golden Shovel proposed an $800 monthly fee which would include support of the website and a free update of the site every four years. No action was taken as the local entities continue to discuss their wants and needs for a website.
Council members voted 8-0 to have the City Attorney re-draft a plat. John Steinman has asked that Willow Lane, from 19th to 21st Street be vacated. Steinman owns the property where the street is platted and a potential buyer does not want a street there.
The Council also voted to approve the automatic renewal of liquor licenses in Falls City for 2015.
