(KLZA)-- During the Mayors report Monday night Falls City Mayor Jerry Oliver presented a plaque to Paul Weinert for his many years of dedicated service to the community.
Weinert has served on the Board of Public Works, served as a City Councilman, Mayor of Falls City and just completed a long period of time on the Police and Fire Hiring Committee.
Falls City Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Executive Director David Branch presented the 2014 Annual Report to the Council highlighting some of the events of the past year. Branch thanked the Council for support in the past year and for their continued support in the future.
Branch asked the City for $15,000 in funding for 2015, the same amount that was provided in 2014. He also asked for a three-year commitment at that level for budgeting purposes. City Administrator Gary Jorn said until just recently the City had only provided $2,500 annually to the Chamber. He said that Main Street has been on a three-year commitment but noted he was not sure how that would work out in the future.
The Council voted unanimously to provide $15,000 to the Falls City Chamber for 2015, but felt they did not want to make a three-year commitment.
The Council also approved agreements with the Falls City Housing Authority and Southeast Nebraska Development District for the completion of an environmental review at a cost of $3,500.
The appointment of Pam Holle to the Falls City Housing Advisory Board, replacing Kevin Malone was approved as was a request to use streets and parks for the Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlon on July 25th.
