(KLZA)-- At the request of Don Baldwin and friends, Falls City Ward I Councilman Don Ferguson Monday evening presented an idea to place signs on Old Highway 73 from 28th Street to 35th Street naming it Bill Schock Boulevard. The proposal calls Schock a beloved community leader and prisoner of war veteran of World War II.
The motion passed unanimously. It will not cause any business along the road to change their address. The discussion was all positive and Utility Superintendent Alan Romine suggested the honor could go even further, suggesting the State Department of Roads be petitioned to include the name from the Nebraska-Kansas State Line to 35th Street on the north edge of Falls City.
George William “Bill” Schock is a Falls City icon who has served every role at the Falls City Journal and continues to write a column for the journal having surpassed the age of 90 a few years ago. In addition Schock has served on the Falls City Council and is as highly respected as anyone in Falls City.
