(KLZA)-- The Falls City, City Council has approved an ordinance on second reading lowering the water usage rate for the Village of Rulo and Richardson County Rural Water District 2 from the Water Treatment Plant at Rulo. The change was made as part of a new 10-year contract with each entity.
The rate will drop from $3.09 per 100 cubic feet per month to $2.63 for the next year and beginning October 1, 2015 the rate will be $2.74 per 100 cubic feet per month. The rate was scheduled to be $3.22.
Both the Village of Rulo and the Rural Water District have their own pumps at the Water Plant at Rulo so the water is treated but the City has not costs to pump the water. The original water contracts were for 40 years or the life of the water plant.
In other business the Council approved waiving the Prichard Auditorium fees for a benefit on Sunday, October 12th and for the Richardson County Humane Society for a fundraising event on Saturday, October 25th.
A letter of agreement for professional services for Olsson Associates to serve as the Falls City Street Superintendent was approved. The company will provide the One and Six Year Street plan, and prepare required documents for the State Department of Roads. The cost to the City will be $1,500.
