(KLZA) --City Administrator Gary Jorn updated City Council members on a number of projects ongoing in Falls City during the Monday evening Council meeting.
One project is the addition of a 10’ x 18’ pre-fab building to house the equipment to add chlorine and fluoride to the water system. Completion of this project will allow another project to proceed. The building will be placed south of the power plant on South Crook Street.
The building and equipment comes at a cost of approximately $80,000. The new equipment will be capable of pressurizing the water system. Currently the city water system can only be pressurized by the water tower. Once in place, the water tower will be drained and the inside cleaned. The water tower project is part of a maintenance agreement the City approved several years ago.
Pavement patching and crack and seal projects are also being completed by the Street Department. Jorn also noted an application for a $110,000 grant for repair and upgrades at Prichard Auditorium was submitted April 11th. If awarded, the City will need to match the grant funds dollar-for-dollar.
