(KAIR) -- Due to the generosity of several Atchisonians, a local family whose house was destroyed by a fire last week was given a huge boost in the efforts to get back on their feet.
Even while crews were still fighting the blaze, word traveled fast on whose home it was, Rob and Beth Horvatic, and one business sprung into action to begin relief efforts as a result.

That’s Travis Grossman, Executive Director of Theatre Atchison.
The theatre collected smaller items such as toiletries and gift cards.
Grossman partially credits the rapid response and generosity in the wake of fire, which was the morning after the fatal tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma.

The Atchison Family YMCA also acted as a drop-off point for items and larger donations, such as furniture and appliances.
Relief also came in a temporary home for the Horvatics.
Small business owner Derek Franklin also owns several rental properties and even came to the fire scene that day to offer his moral support to the family.
Later that day, he offered one of his rentals to the family for the interim.
