(KAIR) -- Over a thousand people at one point were without power in Atchison County Monday evening.
While details remain sketchy as to what caused the outage, Westar Spokesperson Leonard Allen says technicians responded to a downed power line early in the evening.
The outage affected a large portion of south Atchison, which caused many businesses to close their doors early.
According to Westar’s web site power was restored in a majority of the homes around 8:30.
