(KAIR) -- The Atchison County Commission has adopted a 2013 budget that calls for a 1.6 mill levy increase.
Following no hearing Wednesday drawing no public comment, the commission adopted the budget on a 2-1 vote with Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen voting nay.
County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says with one-time expenditures like a new EMS system, solid waste provider and employee benefits, a one point six mill increase isn’t bad in the long run.

Bodenhausen agreed with most of the budget, but there were a few expenditures he felt weren’t needed.

For 2013, one mill equals 131 thousand 571 dollars.
