Jefferson County Canvasses Ballots
08/15/2012

(KAIR) -- Jefferson County Commissioners met as the Board of Canvassers Monday to make primary election results official.

They counted 41 of 52 provisional ballots, making the total voter turnout at two thousand 891, or just over 22 percent.

Later in the day Commissioners met in regular session and recommended by consensus to KDOT that the speed limit on K-4 highway running through Valley Falls be set at 45 miles per hour from the south end of the Delaware River Bridge, one point one miles south.

Susan Newell, 911 Director, met with the board to discuss a request by Sheriff Jeff Herrig to send a dispatcher to special training in Colorado on handling calls when there’s an active shooter involved.

Commissioners agreed by consensus to allow the travel with expenses to be split between the Sheriff and Dispatch.

Commissioners will meet at a special start time of 10 next Monday morning to discuss the 2013 budget.
