(KAIR) -- Atchison County Commissioners Wednesday heard presentations from another set of department heads and elected officials that presented their preliminary 2014 budget requests.
Commissioners heard from the Guidance Center, which provides mental health assistance to Atchison, Leavenworth and Jefferson Counties.
Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says the center asked for a 19 thousand dollar increase, the first in over two decades.
Commissioners also heard budget requests from Emergency Management, Joint Communications Noxious Weed and Atchison Senior Village.
In addition, commissioners heard a presentation from the IT/GIS department.
Schuele says budget hearings will continue next Wednesday and then on Tuesday's through July.
