Changes Coming to Falls City Public Schools Website
08/14/2012

(KTNC) - The Falls City Public School District is revamping its website.  District technology coordinator Judi Carter gave the School Board an overview of the new-look site during Monday’s board meeting.
Carter says they’ve been working on the site throughout the summer, filling it with information from the old website and adding new information.  She explains the site will have more features than in the past.  (play audio  :19)
Carter told the board that they’ve been working to complete the district calendar.  (play audio  :34)
Carter said all athletic activities have been entered into the calendar.  Road games are linked to Google maps to provide directions to contests outside of Falls City.  Another new feature, Carter says it that parents will now be able to link to Power School through their smart phones.
The website has not yet been switched to the new site, but Carter says they hope to make the switch soon.  The Falls City School District’s website can be found at w-w-w-dot-f-c-tigers-dot-org.  (

In action items Monday night, the Falls City School Board approved the first reading of revised policies pertaining to the district’s Separation Incentive Program and the Evaluation of Certified Employees.  The separation incentive program is being amended to exclude district principals.  The evaluation policy is being changed to comply with a requirement that the evaluation procedures of principals, the superintendent and other certified employees be included in the district’s board policy.
In other action, the board set the annual public hearing for the 2012-13 District budget for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10.
And the board approved a medical leave of absence for Kindergarten teacher Diana Kottich for the first semester.
In his report, Superintendent Tim Heckenlively informed the board that the school Bus Stop in Rulo was being moved for safety reasons at the start of the new school year.  (play audio  :15)
Heckenlively also said that the district is considering earmarking a $2500 donation from Shopko, along with remaining funds from the Class of 1962 donation, to upgrade the Falls City School District’s technology program.
The bulk of the Class of ’62 donation – approximately $15,000 – was designated to replace the bleachers at Jug Brown Stadium.  Heckenlively said the new aluminum bleachers have been delivered and should be installed in time for the first home football game on August 31st.
