Pawnee City will remain on Stage Two water rationing, following discussion at Monday’s City Council meeting.
The city went to Stage Two rationing last week after one of the city wells broke down. Zoning Administrator Clint Johnson explains. (play audio :26)
The well had been fixed as of Monday, which means all three wells are working properly. Johnson says the City Council decided to keep the Stage Two restrictions in place as a precaution. (play audio :12) Johnson say the council discussed going to Stage 3 water rationing, but decided to stay on Stage 2.
Under Stage Two water rationing, outdoor watering is restricted. Residences and businesses north of Highway 8 can water on even numbered days and those south of Highway 8 can water on odd numbered days.
The rationing also prohibits people from using a hose to wash a vehicle, except at businesses where automobiles are washed every day, and places restrictions on filling private swimming pools.
The stage two water rationing will remain in effect in Pawnee City until further notice.
