Atchison City Commission to Consider Community Garden

 The ball fields at Morrow Park in Atchison may soon be transformed into a community garden.

  The proposal--brought forth by the city's park board--was prompted by the opening of the sports complex by the elementary school.

 City Manager Trey Cocking says city commissioners will consider the measure at their Tuesday meeting...

 They will be meeting at Noon Tuesday due to the President’s Day holiday.

 Commissioners will also look to approve the 44 thousand dollar purchase of two 2012 Dodge Charger police cars for the force.

 They will also look to adopt an ordinance regulating the planting of trees in the city right-of way.

 Commissioners will also look to authorize a 29 thousand dollar nutrient study for the water treatment plant.

 There will also be different trash pick up days this week due to the holiday.

 There is no trash pick-up Monday, Monday trash will be picked up Tuesday and Tuesday's trash will be picked up Wednesday.
 
 There will be no special pick ups.
