One of Atchison’s longtime residents is one of “50 Kansans You Should Know,” according to a Kansas City business magazine.

Bob Staley appears in the latest issue of “Ingrams” magazine.

He appears on the same page as U.S Senator Jerry Moran and Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self.

The 91 year old Staley won the 75 and up national corn shucking competition at age 85 and has been runner up two times since.

His talent earned him an appearance on the Today Show on NBC last fall.

Staley has been an Atchison resident since 1951 and still organizes local corn shucking competitions around the region during harvest season to keep the method alive in future generations.
