(KLZA)-- The Falls City, City Council approved advertising for bids to mill and overlay Barada Street from 16th to 28th Street when they met Monday night. City Administrator Gary Jorn expects it will be costly. He noted that he would like to devise a plan to resurface the emergency routes such as Barada Street, followed by the primary streets then the secondary streets.
The Council also approved seeking bids to mill and overlay the City parking lot east of Prichard Auditorium. Heavy use of the lot is causing rapid deterioration. Resurfacing the lot was a topic that came up often during the Downtown Revitalization planning meetings.
During the Administrators report Gary Jorn said progress is being made on the water well projects including one of the wells being capped last week. Plans call for changing the City access to the well field to a public road rather than off of the levy near the Missouri Rive.
Jorn also noted the Cemetery Board has made some changes persons that plan to use Steele Cemetery will need to be aware of. Fees will be charged for cremation vaults and the number of openings per plot has changed.
On votes of 5-3 the Council approved a request for the Irish Booster Club to rent Prichard Auditorium February 28 and allow alcohol to be served. Voting no were Council members Steve Scholl, Jon Vaughn and Judy Murphy. Scholl noted that he votes no on alcohol when a school is involved.
