(KAIR) -- A permanent Jefferson County Emergency Management Director has been hired.
County Commissioners this week hired Mike Baxter for the position.
He will replace Darryl Chess, who was director on an interim basis after the departure of Doug Schmitt.
Baxter will be taking the position part-time while continuing to be the training officer and part-time paramedic for the County Ambulance Department.
He will take over the Emergency Management Director role effective June 1st.
