Verizon Wireless Completes Atchison Expansion
04/05/2013

(KAIR) -- Verizon customers in Atchison will no longer have to search for spots for a phone signal around town.

The provider has announced all sites are up and running in Atchison.

Last summer, citizens starting getting the service in the immediate area surrounding Benedictine College.

It continued in late 2012 when a site in downtown Atchison went live.

Spokeswoman Brenda Hill says the latest improvements will improve the signal in the southernmost parts of Atchison, as well as along US 59 highway in Missouri.

The new cell sites will enable more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new sites will provide enhanced voice, 3G and 4G data coverage in the city of Atchison.

Hill says plans are in place to expand coverage in areas around Atchison still without a Verizon signal.
