(KAIR) -- Around a dozen Atchison County citizens asked questions to Appraiser Jim Lampe Monday afternoon during the regular County Commissioner meeting about a sudden jump in some of their land valuation assessments for this year.
Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen says while this is not under the jurisdiction of the Commissioners, they too, expressed concern. (Play Audio)
One of those property owners affected was Kenneth Lutz. (Audio Continues)
Lampe also heard concerns from citizens about what’s deemed wasteland or grass land.
He provided an explanation on the differences.

Lampe encouraged people with concerns on their valuation to meet with him on the matter, then if they are still dissatisfied, to take the matter to the state court of appeals.
Bodenhausen says a representative from the state’s property valuation division will be coming to the commissioner meeting at three next Monday afternoon to answer further questions on the subject.
