(KAIR) -- Jefferson County’s Emergency Management Director has resigned.
Doug Schmitt submitted his resignation to Jefferson County Commissioners at their regular meeting Monday.
Schmitt, who’s been the Emergency Management Director since 2007, is leaving the position to pursue another job opportunity out of the region.
His final day with the county will be April 5th.
In other business, Commissioners approved a general service contract for Sheriff Jeff Herrig to purchase two to three new patrol cars at a value of 75 thousand dollars.
