Pawnee City Council Approves Street Plan; Gets Suggestions from 3rd Graders
(KTNC) - The Pawnee City, City Council, held a public hearing on the One and Six Year Street Plan during a short meeting Monday night. The hearing allows the public to comment on the plan.
City Clerk Tammy Stephens says Pawnee City Schools Superintendent Stephen Grizzle attended the hearing to offer input on a part of the plan. (play audio :45)
The council approved a resolution to adopt the One-and-Six Year plan following the public hearing.
John DeFreece of NPPD met with the council on various matters. Stephens says they discussed findings on NPPD’s monitoring of the electric current going to the new sewer plant. (play audio :34)
Stephens says the lease payments going to Pawnee City have increased over the last few years, mainly due to the expansion of CJ Foods.
In other business, the Pawnee City Council approved an ordinance to move the Council meeting time from 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The change to an earlier meeting time will become effective with the first meeting in March, but the meeting date itself has been pushed back a day. Due to schedule conflicts, the first March meeting of the Pawnee City Council will be held on Tuesday, March 12.
And the City Council reviewed letters the city received from 3rd graders on “improvements” they would like to see made in Pawnee City. (play audio :36)
Other suggestion the third graders offered included a miniature golf course, bumper cars, improved tennis courts, and bringing back the high-dive at the swimming pool.
