(KAIR) -- Atchison County Commissioners unanimously deny a request to have a portion of a county road vacated for a rural Atchison County family.
Charles A. and Charles P. Vollmer made a request at Wednesday’s meeting to vacate a road near their properties in the Good Intent area, along Labette Road, in the vicinity between 302nd and 318th Road.
The denial came following a public hearing where people spoke both in favor and in denial of the road.
Commissioner Jeff Schuele says their vote followed the lines of state statute on vacating roads.

Commissioners also heard an update on the Memorial Hall Revitalization Project from its Committee Chair, Don Huff.
The ongoing project is aiming to bring the front of the hall back to its original form.
Commissioners allocated Wednesday 25 thousand dollars towards the project.
Schuele says the committee’s goal is to raise a majority of 50 thousand dollars needed for the project privately.
