(KTNC) - The Falls City, City Council – with three members absent – approved a motion to amend the 2012-2013 Budget by nearly four million dollars Monday night.
City Clerk-Treasurer Gary Jorn explained to the council that the city needed to increase the Community Redevelopment Authority part of the budget by $3.7 million. Jorn said that would reflect the amount issued on Tax Increment Finance bonds for a recent economic development project.
The council approved the motion 5-0 following a public hearing in which no comments were received. Second Ward Councilwoman Judy Murphy asked Jorn about the request. (play audio 1:04)
In other action, the council approved bids with three companies to remodel the former hospital clinic building at 2307 Barada to serve as new city offices.
The city had asked for bids for the construction, mechanical, and electrical portions of the project – and received one bid for each part of the project from three local firms.
Palmer Construction was awarded the contract for the construction portion of the project in the amount of $47,290. Jones Air Conditioning was awarded the mechanical contract with a bid of #11,603. And El Camino Electric will do the electrical work with a total bid of $19,454.
Work on the project could start as early as the middle of this week.
And the council approved a building permit to allow a metal building to be constructed at 3117 McLean Street.
