(KAIR) -- On January 22nd at noon, the deadline will come for candidates to file for city and school board offices around the state.
In Atchison, three positions are up for election. Those held by Mayor Allen Reavis, and City Commissioners Rita Hartman and Larry Purcell.
As of Friday afternoon, there have been no filings.

That’s City Manager Trey Cocking.
He says filing for the position is simple.

The non-partisan election will have a primary February 26th if there are at least 10 candidates running for office.
If not, the General Election will take place April 2nd.
Cocking encourages citizens to consider looking into the process.

Cocking says City Commissioners get paid 75 dollars annually, except in the first year where the Commissioner gets two-thirds of that rate.
