Atchison Police Conduct Active Shooter Training

(KAIR) -- The Atchison Police Department's  Special Response Team used their monthly training session to prepare for a crisis situation.

Last week, the team conducted active shooter response training.

That’s Sergeant Corey Webb, SRT’s Team Leader.

He says this training was already on the books and was not in response to the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.

Webb says Atchison Police have routinely scheduled active shooter response training since the tragedy at Columbine in 1999.
