New Years Eve Safety Urged

(KAIR) -- With many festivities scheduled both publically and privately this evening, area law enforcement are warning those celebrating the new year to stay safe.

Atchison County Sheriff John Calhoon says it starts with a game plan for the evening.

Calhoon says the amount of New Year’s related incidents have gone down in recent years.

Calhoon says while Deputy Patrol will not be setting up sobriety checkpoints around the county for the holiday, he says their primary focus will be on impaired drivers.

The same goes with the Atchison Police department.
