(KTNC) - People got an initial look at design plans for a proposed assisted living facility in Pawnee City, during a presentation Tuesday night at the Union Bank Basement.
Alan Richard introduced fellow members of the Assisted Living Board, project architect David Hite of Topeka, and contractor AHRS of Bern.
Richard says there is a growing need for an assisted living facility in Pawnee City, and that has been identified as a need in community surveys. (play audio :37)
Hite showed details of what is planned for the facility in a Power Point presentation. The facility will be located on the west side of the Pawnee Manor. It is 14,700 square feet, with 19 residential units, along with common areas, a dining room, and laundry facility. Two of the units are smaller studio units, two are larger one-bedroom units, and the remaining 15 are standard one-bedroom units.
Hite said the design has a “home-like” feel. Richard says it’s not fancy, but is nice, as they hope to keep rates reasonable. (play audio :18)
The facility will be paid for with 40-year revenue bonds, with a loan from USDA Rural Development. Richard says they’re working to set up an escrow account – as required by USDA – to help with cash flow for the first few months the facility is in operation. He says they’re also working on a cash flow analysis.
The Assisted Living Board will make a presentation to the City Council Monday night. (play audio :35)
Monday’s Pawnee City Council meeting will be held at the Union Bank Basement.
Richard says they hope to break ground on the assisted living facility next spring. (play audio :25)
It’s anticipated construction on the facility will take 10 months to one year to complete.
