Plat Not Recommended for Atchison Subdivision
06/08/2012

Atchison Planning Commissioners failed to recommend approval to City Commissioners to subdivide five lots south of Atchison.

Commissioners voted three to three against the Saint Francis Subdivision, which is one point five miles south of Atchison Hospital.

Joe Herring of Herring Surveying Company of Leavenworth was responsible for the subdivision and said this would be the largest subdivision in Atchison County.

The tracts range from 23 to 47 acres entering at either 258th or 262nd Road.

Commissoner Derek Franklin voted to not recommend the plan.

He says it’s too vague.

Commissioners Robinson and Kearney joined Franklin in voting against the measure, as Commissioners Davis, Brungardt and Farrell voted in favor.

The measure must now pass the City Commission and County Commission.

The group will have an opportunity to make modifications as necessary in the meantime.
