Benedictine College will honor two prominent alumni with the annual Offeramus Medal and Kansas Monk Award during the upcoming Alumni Reunion Friday through Sunday.
JoAnn Henningsen will receive the 2012 Offeramus Medal and her late husband, John, will receive the 2012 Kansas Monk Award posthumously.
Both honors will be presented during the annual Alumni Reunion Banquet, set Saturday evening at six in the College Cafeteria.
Mount St. Scholastica College, which joined with St. Benedict’s College in 1971 to form Benedictine College, established the Offeramus Medal in 1957 for alumnae who had distinguished themselves in their profession, showed a prominence of service to the civic community, demonstrated outstanding loyalty to the alma mater, and reflected honor on the college through family and social life.
In 1960, St. Benedict’s established the corresponding Kansas Monk Award for its graduates.
JoAnn went to Mount St. Scholastica College and earned Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and History in 1963.
John went to St. Benedict’s College and graduated in 1962 with Bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and economics.
The couple raised five children together and sent three to Benedictine College. Currently, their children are living in Lebanon, Singapore, London and Kansas City.
The number to call for ticket information is (913) 360-7427.
