Pawnee City Council Approves SchillingBridge Request

 The vote was not unanimous, but after some discussion, the Pawnee City, City Council, approved a recommendation from the CDBG Reuse Committee to release the current first lien position of the investment house at 847 7th Street. 
The council approval will allow Schilling Bridge Winery, which has three reuse loans with the city, to apply the proceeds of the sale of the property towards a higher-interest rate bank loan they have for beer equipment. 
The council Monday night approved the Reuse Committee’s recommendation on a 2-1 vote, with one council member not voting.
In other business Monday night, the Pawnee City Council approved a request to close the westbound lane of F Street between 6th and 7th Streets between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Wednesday’s for the Farmer’s Market.  The first farmer’s market of the season will be held June 13th, and they will continue through Labor Day.
The council set a public hearing for 8:15 p.m. on May 29th on a request to vacate a portion of K Street.
Council approved a motion to renew the C-R-P contract on 2.2 acres of ground near the city’s wells for another 15 years.
The council dealt with a couple personnel matters.  They hired Keshia Ford to be the pool manager for this summer, with Thomas Pearson named Assistant Manager and Allison Swygart to serve as a fill-in assistant manager.  Thirteen lifeguards have been hired for the summer, including three returning recertified guards, five second-year guards, and five new lifeguards. 
Council members Deb Klein and Roxanne Buman were appointed to serve on a committee to review applications for the part-time city office clerk position.  The city has received 10 applications for the position.
And the council approved a payment of $291,860 to Eriksen Construction for work on the wastewater treatment facility.  The council rejected a bid from Mid-America Road Builders to do this summer’s chip and seal street project.
