Marysville and Holton meet up on the softball field last night and KNZA took in the second game of the double-header as the Wildcats of Holton came away with the split with the Bulldogs of Marysville, by taking the night cap 4-0 after falling in game one 6-1.
Game two saw some great pitching on both sides as Christa Merriman for Holton earned the victory pitching a five-hit shutout to earn the win for the Wildcats. While it was Dani Fincham, pitching for the Bulldogs in both games, earning the win in game one but falling in game two. Holton garnered four runs on five hits in the matchup, with the first run coming in the bottom of the second inning after a lead off double by Kelsey Helus, who came around to score that inning. The other three runs for Holton were plated in the fourth inning as the capitalized on a few errors by the Bulldogs that inning.
Marysville offense after plating six runs in the first game left seven baserunners on the pads in game two as Holton pitcher Christa Merriman and the Wildcat defense, got out of every jam presented to them. Christa not only earned the win as the pitcher, but also had a two-out two-run single in the fourth, while Cassidy Merriman added a triple and a run scored on the day. Dani Fincham, who earned the win in game one, had two hits in game two.
Holton now sits at 5-5 on the season with the split, while Marysville is 3-1 on the year.
