Atchison County will soon have their fracture critical bridges inspected.
Atchison County Commissioners unanimously approved the low bid of 28 thousand 664 dollars from Manhattan’s Schwab and Eaton Wednesday in their regular meeting.
This will cover the fracture critical and biannual inspections of the 20 to 22 bridges in the county that aren’t compliant.
The four bids ranged up to just over 73 thousand dollars.
Even though KDOT has told county officials there is no penalty if they didn’t inspect them before 2014, but Commissioners didn’t want to risk the state to inspect them at what was expected to be a greater cost.
In other business, valuation notices are expected to go out to property within two to five weeks.
Commissioners passed a bid to provide cosmetic changes to the solid waste site for three thousand 615 dollars two to one with Commissioner Bodenhausen voting nay.
