County funding will return to the Atchison Adult Learning Center following after its funding went toward another program in this year budget.
The oversight was discovered by employee Amanda Ramsey and she said the funding is essential to operate the center as the allocation for “Happy Hearts” diminishes by the year.
County Commissioner Jeff Schuele explains the restoring of the funding.

On Wednesday, Commissioners spent most of their session trying to assign the roles for this budget year of resigning Emergency Management Director Lori Chew, who is leaving her position next week.
Schuele says some of her roles will be divided upon different departments.

Tony Redden in the GIS department will now handle flood plain management duties.
Discussion is still ongoing to construct a Public Works Department in 2013 that would include Chew’s noxious weed position.
