Meat Prices Expected to Decline
11/23/2015

(NRN)-- Nebraska is one of the largest beef producing states in the nation and the U-S Department of Agriculture is looking ahead at what is in store for the livestock industry in 2016.

Seth Meyer is chairman of the Ag Department's Outlook Board and says they have cut their production forecast a bit.

The outlook is a decline of 79-million pounds for 2015 and 110 million pounds in 2016.

Meyer says beef output will be up 4.8%, pork up nearly 2% and turkey up 8%. He says that means prices will declin. USDA now predicts steer prices will drop about 5%, hogs down 4 1/2% and turkey down nearly 3%.
